CREATIVE RESEARCH FROM THE DANCER’S PERSPECTIVE

THIS COURSE DELVED INTO CREATIVE PRACTICES THAT PROPOSE (AND ACKNOWLEDGE) THE ROLE OF THE DANCER AS CREATOR. QUESTIONS WE INTERROGATED: IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE WORK PRIMARILY FROM A DANCER’S PERSPECTIVE; THE SINGULAR PHYSICAL AGENCIES (THE DANCER’S BODIES AND INPUT) THAT INHABITS A WORK? HOW DO THE PARTICULAR EMBODIED SENSIBILITIES OF A DANCER INFORM OR TRANSFORM A WORK? COULD THE DANCER’S ACTIVELY PRESENT BODIES EXCEED EMPATHIC CHOREOGRAPHIC MARKS AND SCORES? WHAT ARE THE LARGER IMPLICATIONS OF REVISING THE DANCER-CHOREOGRAPHER HIERARCHIES AND NARRATIVES?

PRACTICES INCLUDED:
  • A 30 DAY DAILY CREATIVE PRACTICE.
  • COLLECTIVE SHARING OF A SELF-DESIGNED PRACTICE
  • CREATION OF AN ARCHIVE
  • SOLO MANIFESTATIONS FROM PRACTICE
  • WRITING AND OPEN MIC
