IN THIS COURSE, TAUGHT BY A TEAM OF ARTIST-RESEARCHERS IN COLLABORATION, STUDENTS HAVE DEVELOPED RESEARCH AND PERFORMANCE PRACTICES THAT CONSIDER AND RESPOND TO CONTEMPORARY CONDITIONS PRODUCED BY COLONIAL AND NEOLIBERAL STRUCTURES. HOW DOES PERFORMANCE IN AND AS RESEARCH NAVIGATE CONDITIONS OF LIFE AND MOBILIZE THE SOCIAL? STUDENTS HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED TO VARIOUS MODELS OF CREATIVE INQUIRY WITH AN EMPHASIS ON ARCHIVE, ETHNOGRAPHY, DOCUMENTATION AND ANALYSIS OF LIVE PERFORMANCE. CONTENT CONSISTING OF WORK / RESEARCH THAT STUDENTS HAVE BEEN IMMERSED IN SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE SPRING 2020 SEMESTER WILL BE ADDED TO OUR WORDPRESS SITE THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. LAYERING AND COLLAGE-MAKING BECAME ESSENTIAL TO HOW THE CLASS THINKS ABOUT COLLABORATION AND COLLECTIVITY. WORKPRESS POSTS WILL EMERGE BI-WEEKLY, ALLOWING THE GROUP TO ACTIVATE AND EXPLORE IDEAS OF LAYERING AS A WAY TO BUILD A COLLAGE OVER TIME.
